April Barnett

“Off the Shelf: Audio”

April Barnett moved a lot when growing up. She has lived in Spencer, Lorain, Elyria, Grafton, and now in Hinckley.

She says she has a wonderful husband and two children. Their son, Robert, has autism and even though he is 24 years old he will always be a 5-year-old. Their daughter, Skylar, has dyslexia, but she works hard to overcome it.

When growing up, Barnett really had no interest in books. While taking care of a young boy, Barnett started reading books with him. After they had read the few kids books that Barnett had, she found a large book that a previous tenant had left behind.

Barnett has been reading ever since. Her husband is a book reader. They bought their first book series together: Martin the Warrior. From then on, they have been sharing books.

April has a long drive to work so she has plenty of time to listen. She loves hearing the different voices they make when reading the books.

She has worked for the family business, a home health-care business started by her aunt. She has been there for 30 years and does everything except make RN visits. She is now the medical biller.

When she gets time to herself, she enjoys sewing, painting, crocheting, knitting, and doing crafts. She spends time with her church family. Her family likes camping and spending time in the pool. She is hoping to one day own a camper to travel with her family and still have the comforts of home.
