“The Reading Nook”
Janine Smalley moved to her dream home in Medina in 2020. She wears many hats, most often a goat-chewed baseball cap.
Smalley is the founder of Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary in Medina, as well as an advanced practice registered nurse who specializes in mental health.
She works full time for the Department of Veterans Affairs as the chief of patient safety.
Smalley is married to Scott, and they have four adult children.
“Scott has a heart of gold and the patience of a saint to put up with and support my love of animals,” Smalley said.
The couple shares their homestead with four dogs, 11 goats, two pigs, a duck, several geese, and countless chickens.*
She has always had a passion for writing and has always dreamed of writing children’s stories.
